Beaches
In our opinion you are much better off you are better off spending your days in one of the beach clubs listed below, or travelling to Estapona where there is a beautiful expanse of white sand much superior to the beaches of Sotogrande. We have however, listed some of Sotogrande’s beaches below – you will find them slightly less manicured than many others though some may prefer their bathing more rustic!
El Cucurucho Beach Club
Tel: 00 34 956 795012
The El Cucurucho Beach Club is located in between the Mediterranean and Real Club de Golf and was the first out of the two beach clubs to be built. This beach club feels more like a mini resort with its sun loungers tidily arranged around the pool side with green lawns.
El Cusurucho Beach Club has a superb restaurant and during July and August comprises of a buffet and is very popular with residents of Sotogrande there is also a beach bar which serves drinks and hot snacks.
This beach club has four pools – Family pool, adult pool, splash pool, and a larger pool for older children all the pools have lifeguards who are always on duty.
El Octogono Beach Club
Tel: 00 34 956 615614
El Octogono has been open since 1980 and is located in the Puerto. In the summer months families spend the entire day here relaxing next to the pool. There is a restaurant which offers drinks and snacks- baguettes, burgers and tapas more formal meals are also on offer if people prefer.
This club caters for everyone and has an adult only area that has its own pool and an area to relax and sunbathe. There is a children’s area this also has its own pool and lawn area to play on. During the summer months there are activities organized for children and all the pools are watched by lifeguards. The children’s pool area has two pools (one suited for young children) along with a fully supervised play area that has it own access to the restaurant.
For water sports El Octogono is the best of the two clubs. The sailing school allows for catamaran sailing, waterskiing, jet skiing can be done from the beach and kayaking on the River Guadiaro which is a natural formed lagoon and is a safe environment to learn new skills.
Café del Mar
Part of the Almenera Hotel this beach bar/restaurant serves up fabulous cuisine right on the waters edge. The seafood is excellent.
