Overview
This guide to Sotogrande, Costa Del Sol gives you a quick flavour of the area and lists things to do and local attractions. Sotogrande is situated around 35 minutes away from Puerto Banus and is an ideal stop off for those needing to relax after visiting the VAT free shopping haven of Gibraltar only 30 minutes away.
It is probably the Costa Del Sol’s most upmarket resort and has long been popular with a wealthy Spanish elite, evident from the many sprawling villas sat along immaculate tree lined streets and world famous polo facilities.
Polo, introduced in 1965 by the late Enrique Zobel, is now firmly established in Sotogrande and has a number of suberb clubs offering everything you would expect from shopping and spa treatments to golf and fine dining.

The famous Valderrama golf club which hosted the Ryder Cup back in the late 90's is also close at hand and is definitely one of the major courses any golf enthusiast would love to play (see more details below in our golf guide).
For those holidaying in Sotogrande the port area is a main attraction. The atmosphere is generally a lot more laid back than say Puerto Banus and certainly more limited in terms of late night clubbing. However, the restaurants are superb and lively nightlife can certainly be sought out as can the international polo jet set living it up.
Renting a self catering apartment in Sotogrande, Costa Del Sol is possibly the best way to experience the many attractions on offer, giving you the flexibility to eat out or BBQ in on your private balcony. Property in Sotogrande has experienced a boom in recent years with associated berth prices also rising significantly.
